Japanese pop star Minami Minegishi of AKB48 uploaded a YouTube video where she appears in a tearful mea culpa after breaking her band’s strict rules on dating.
The Guardian reads:
“As a senior member of the group, it is my responsibility to be a role model for younger members,” she said, before ending the four-minute mea culpa with a deep, lingering bow.
Apparently she did this because she neglected Japan’s strict rules when it comes to pop stars – they must adhere to project an image of unimpeachable morals. Still, seems rather extreme to shave your head over this.
