Lone tree stands among the mysterious Fairy Circles of Namibia

These mysterious circles of Namibia are actually the work of underground insect engineers, termites to be more precise, that create water traps, allowing rings of green grasses in the sand. The circles inspired ecological and mythological speculation about their origins, but continuous study has led to the belief that the natural rings of perennial grasses manage to survive in parched terrain of NamibRand, Namibia, thanks to a termite that creates areas of moisture within the sand.
